Vision

To provide learners with an understanding of history and chronology that allows them to develop an understanding of the world around them and how events of the past have led us to live the way we live today.

• Develop chronological awareness to develop an understanding of past and present
• Broaden knowledge of timescales and history in the wider world
• Deepen perspective and judgement on the complexity of history in the wider world

The Journey from Semi-Formal to Formal

The journey begins with learners considering the history of their own lives and events in their own family experiences and then widens this understanding into events in the wider world during their lifetimes and before. This allows pupils to understand their own context, chronology and cultural background and understand how they fit into a modern multicultural world. They learn from the events and mistakes of the past and build a greater understanding of life today.
