Orchard Pathway At Southgate

Bridging our 2 curriculums is our Journey to Formal stage which enables our learners to build the learning and thinking skills needed to move from the Semi-Formal to the Formal Curriculum. Learners in this pathway benefit from a formal learning approach​.

Our Formal Curriculum is a more structured learning programme where the goals and objectives link closely to the national curriculum, but at the appropriate developmental stage. Pupils in this pathway will be working several years behind age related expectations and will have a diverse range of complex needs. However, in most cases, their primary need will be linked to cognition and learning. Pupils in Orchard will often pursue formal accreditations which will allow them to move on to further study at college.
